... cantaba Davis, haciendo gospel (o sea, música/predicación) en las calles de Harlem, allá por las décadas de 1940-50.

Este blues fue versionado diversas veces en el tiempo de la bluesización blanca en UsofNA (luego de la invasión británica rhytm &b lues (Yardbirds, Cream, Stones, Animals ..., que a su vez había recibido al blues negro de Norteamérica a principios de los 60).
Uno de sus más intensos versionadores fue The Grateful Dead.

A very rare, old video of "Death Don't Have No Mercy" performed by Rev. Gary Davis. Probably one of the darkest blues songs ever written. Parts of this clip were included in the documentary 'It Might Get Loud". Any information about where and when this video was filmed, would be greatly appreciated.

You asked where this was filmed? I don't know where he is playing but the street scenes -- that's Harlem. I from NY and no other city looks like that but NY. I can see 5th ave going right uptown & I can see the east river. Oh yeah, Harlem. No Doubt.
